Estonian Refugee Council assists refugees and internally displaced people in a number of crisis situations around the world. We aim to support wellbeing and livelihoods of affected communities through timely and effective humanitarian action.

In Jordan, we are carrying out a livelihoods project from June 2018 to February 2020. The project aims to enhance sustainable livelihoods of Syrian refugees as well as vulnerable local populations in Jordan. In the scope of the project, beneficiaries are provided with an extensive entrepreneurship training, a start-up entrepreneurship grant, and continual mentorship for 6 months.

SCOPE OF WORK

Project Officer will support overall programme activities (incl. administration, information management, communication, reporting) during the project period at our office in Mafraq. S/he will also help co-facilitate trainings, support the creation and follow-up of projects, monitoring and evaluation activities. S/he will interact closely with the Project Coordinator based in Estonia to ensure coordination and effective implementation of the project.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Facilitate the selection of project beneficiaries by acting as the point person on interviewing, selecting, and inducting participants
  • Support the delivery process throughout training, including co-facilitating, recording attendance, homework grades, and other as needed on a weekly basis
  • Oversee the grant payment and follow-up process to selected beneficiaries
  • Contribute to provision of feedback, development of training materials, leaflets, questionnaires (in Arabic or English)
  • Conduct M&E activities and oversee the delivery of trainings
  • Ensure effective coordination between the local staff and the Project Coordinator in Estonia, organize site visits upon request
  • Participate in regular team meetings and supervision sessions
  • Work constructively within the team and take initiative on new tasks and ideas

REQUIREMENTS:

  • University degree in related field or prior experience (at least 2 years) working in the field with an NGO
  • Fluent in Arabic and English
  • Organized and very high level of attention to detail
  • Strong computer and planning skills
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Positive attitude, eagerness to find creative solutions, patience and flexibility
  • Have a car and willing to use for work purposes (Fuel compensated)

  • Up to 21 month contract (incl. 3 months of probation period)
