Context Analyst, South and Central Syria

The role
The Context Advisor supports the SCI South Central Syria Program by providing regular analysis of current and project humanitarian, political, and conflict context and trends in South and Central Syria.
1 Timely, accurate, consultative humanitarian, political, and conflict context and access. 2 Support conflict sensitivity through building greater understanding of community-level dynamics. 3 Build capacity of staff and partners to identify and analyse sources of context information and their program impact.
Qualifications and experience
Essential Experience
5 years INGO humanitarian access analysis experience, preferably in Middle East
Solid examples of enabling humanitarian access in conflict/ war zones and areas with active AOGs
Experience of remote security management and working with local partners to build their capacity on security management
Familiarity with the integrated role of access at the heart of programme operations in high risk environments.
Proven experience formulating and communicating analysis of operational conditions in complex contexts like that of Syria.
Experience in Security Risk Assessment.
Education & Trainings
Graduate Degree or equivalent in Security Management or related field.
Security Management Certifications from accredited institution.
Understands the complexity and values of non-profit organizations and “Do No Harm” principles
Skills
Superb interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate at all levels, establish information networks, and coordinate with country authorities, militias, donors, International Organisations and local NGOs.
Ability to work with minimum supervision in a highly stressful and challenging environment.
Proven ability to work constructively in diverse teams and to manage national staff
Proven skills in concise and succinct report writing.
Ability to prioritise and meet deadlines.
Commitment to the aims and principles of Save the Children. In particular, a good understanding of the Save the Children mandate and child focus and an ability to ensure this continues to underpin all aspects of the job.
Commitment to Save the Children Child Safeguarding policy.
Fluent in English and Arabic (written and spoken)
Good Computer skills (Microsoft Office, email, internet)
Desirable
Familiarity with the various key state and non-state actors impacting the political and humanitarian environment of the Syrian conflict, including the United Nations, INGOs, NGOs, governments, and donors.
Experience living and working in Syria or neighbouring countries
FLEXIBILITY
Demonstrated high-level interpersonal and cross-cultural skills including the ability to build collaborative relationships internally and externally with sensitivity to cultural, ethnic, social and political issues
Contract length: 6 months
