Finance and Administrative Officer – Jordan

Closing date: 22 Jan 2018
Length of Contract: 1 year, renewable

Monthly Salary: JD 1200

Reports to: Country Director with functional reporting to Finance Manager, UK

Background

Turquoise Mountain seeks a full-time Finance and Administrative Officer to support the work of its new branch office in Amman, Jordan.

The Finance and Administrative Officer will be responsible for the management and operation of finances of the Amman office of Turquoise Mountain, including maintenance of accounts and accurate and timely reporting on financial performance of the organization’s Jordan-based programs. He/she will also provide administrative support to ensure the smooth running of the Amman office.

Turquoise Mountain is a Non-Government Organisation registered in the United Kingdom, dedicated to the preservation and promotion of craft-based cultural heritage in Afghanistan, Myanmar, and the Middle East.

Financial Responsibilities:

Ensure financial transactions are carried out and recorded in accordance with standard financial procedures of the organisation.
Maintain Quick Books including regular postings and related accounts reconciliations.
Coordination with banks including preparation of monthly bank reconciliations.
Assist the Finance Manager, UK with the reconciliation of accounts, and the transfer of funds between head-office and field offices.
Maintain petty cash for the country.
Ensure expenses and procurements are made in accordance with organizational and Turquoise Mountain policies.
Maintain all supporting documents in soft and hard copies as required.
Provide financial / budget information as required.
Maintain financial security and ensure implementation of internal accounting controls.
Assist in internal / donor audit and financial monitoring.
Update monthly payroll and prepare related reconciliations, ensuring taxes and other statutory deductions are made and are reported/paid to relevant authorities.
Ensure financial reporting target dates are met and adequate information is made available to the Finance Manager, UK in time.
Administrative Responsibilities:

Assist regional team in locating, setting up, and rendering operational a new physical office space in Amman.
Support Jordan team in delivering all and any local programs.
Arrangement of local and international travel and hotel reservations for Jordan/TM staff and consultants.
Logistical support for meetings, conferences, and/or workshops.
Oversees procurement.
Management of basic HR issues.
Orderly maintenance of paper and cloud-based filing systems.
Ensuring the smooth operation of the Amman branch office.
Requirements

B.A. in Accounting or Business Administration.
At least 3 years’ work experience in a similar position.
Native Arabic speaker with excellent Arabic writing skills.
Advanced-proficiency English (written and verbal).
Highly organized and efficient.
Computer literate (Word, Excel, Quick Books or similar accounting software).
Previous experience working with NGOs or INGOs is a plus.
