Purpose: The Purpose of this role is to assist the Finance team with day-to-day financial aspects and administrative duties as well adhering to financial requirements of the office

Post: Full-time/ Part-time (negotiable)

Period: 6 months contract

Expenses: RedR will reimburse daily allowance of JD 10 for each working day as fixed rate to cover lunch and transportation expenses

REDR AND THE WORK WE DO

We’re a global humanitarian capacity-building NGO providing training, consultancy services and expertise to national and international NGOs working in disaster-prone countries. We work around the world, delivering capacity building programmes that are practical, up-to-date and delivered by experienced humanitarians. We train thousands of aid workers each year in everything from managing people and projects in emergencies, to personal and organisational security, from providing essential water and sanitation, to community-based disaster preparedness and more.

We focus on building the capacity of national and community organisations in countries affected by floods, earthquakes, conflict and drought. We also work in partnership with NGOs, governments and academic institutions to improve the effectiveness of humanitarian action and to build the technical capacity of the sector in response to urban emergencies.

In the Middle East, RedR has facilitated capacity building activities in Jordan, Iraq, Gaza, Lebanon, Tunisia and Turkey. These have all been coordinated from the Regional Office in Amman. In 2014-15 RedR provided face to face trainings to over 700 aid workers across these countries, the majority of whom are from the region. These activities were facilitated in both Arabic and English, depending on the language needs of the participants. Recent activities in Jordan have covered Safety and
Security, Proposal Writing, WASH for urban settings and Humanitarian Leadership.

In addition, RedR is currently implementing a DFID-funded three year programme in collaboration
with Oxfam to develop core humanitarian and management leadership skills for national staff
implementing humanitarian programmes in the Middle East. The programme involves a 6-9 month
intervention with each participant in order to develop and sustain essential skills. To date, 85 staff
have been engaged in the programme. This number will rise to 185 by the end of the programme in
October 2017. A similar programme aimed at developing core project management skills for the
staff of UNDP partner organisations in Iraq also began in mid-2016.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

Record financial transactions on QuickBooks Online, in line with RedR and donor
requirements.
Assist in maintaining the sales and invoicing system, ensuring receipts are correctly allocated
and debts are chased up.
Review with the Finance Coordinator and process necessary journal vouchers in QuickBooks
with all supporting documentation.
Check advance payment transactions and report accordingly.
To help in Maintaining the Asset register and controlling petty cash holdings.
Assist in managing and reconciling bank/cash and other balance sheet accounts.
Assist in maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records and provide information when
required.
Ensure financial and resource accountability and effective management of records as
required for auditing.
To help in the preparation of any interim and annual audit and in the preparation of financial
reports.
Ensure adherence to the RedR finance and administration guidelines and Jordan
Government tax and accounting regulations.
Work with the Coordinator on preparation of organisational and project budgets.
Work with the Coordinator on preparing accurate monthly Budget versus Actual reports for
financial monitoring and progress of programme funds and grants.
Ensure proper documentation for all financial transactions.
Any other duties specified by (Line Manager) that are appropriate to undertake
Person Specification
Essential
 At least three years of study completed OR recent graduate holding a BSc in Accounting,
Finance, Business or other related fields preferred
 Good computer literacy in MS Office skills in the use of email, internet, Word and Excel
 Good attention to detail and a methodical approach to your work; ability to work under tight
deadlines.
 Able to accurately undertake basic administrative tasks like document and information
collation, filing, creating word documents, simple spreadsheets.

 Good interpersonal and team working skills, within a multicultural setting
 Initiative, enthusiasm and a problem-solving approach to new challenges.
 Commitment to humanitarian work.
 Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with colleagues in order to undertake tasks.
 Good spoken and written English and fluent spoken and written Arabic.
 Willingness to be familiar with RedR’s vision and mission, and Middle East programme and
be willing to promote this in the field.

Desirable
 Knowledge of humanitarian sector would be a beneficial.
 Experience of QuickBooks would be an advantage
