The Opportunity
Based in the Regional Office in Amman, the Regional Strategic Analyst provides analytical support and guidance to Save the Children’s (SCI) Regional Office and Country Offices in the Middle East & Eastern Europe (MEEE) region. Currently, the Analyst supports the Syria Response Office in Amman for approximately 40% of their time. Contextual analysis and risk assessments are shared within the Region, at Global level and with relevant Save the Children Members to whom the analyst provides bi-lateral support on a mutually agreed basis. The Regional Analyst is also a member of SCI’s Context Analysis and Foresight Unit (CAFU), a network coordinated at global level by SCI’s Chief Analyst, based in Stockholm.

This position sits in the regional Operations and Humanitarian Response Team, provides timely, quality and tailored contextual analysis and foresight to inform strategic decision-making at a national, regional, and global level. Analytical outputs and support provided by the position aim at improving SCI’s response capacity, program quality, risk management, and organizational preparedness in the region.

In order to be successful you will bring/have:
* Master’s degree in international relations, political science, humanitarian and conflict studies, journalism, sociology or equivalent through experience.
* Demonstrated experience in delivering high-quality conflict/context analysis in government, academia, international organisations or INGOs.
* Excellent writing, editing and analytical skills and ability to formulate well-targeted policy and program recommendations.
* Excellent knowledge of the history and current context of the Middle East.
* Good knowledge of international humanitarian systems, institutions and donors.
* Written and spoken fluency in English; proficiency in Arabic desirable.
* Excellent communication skills, including good public presentation skills.
* Ability to work independently in a fast-paced and often demanding environment.
