The Norwegian Refugee Council has approximately 5000 committed and competent employees involved in projects across four continents. In addition, NRC runs one of the world’s largest standby rosters -NORCAP, with 650 professionals, ready to be deployed on 72 hours notice when a crisis occurs
Office Background
The Middle East Regional Office based in Amman, Jordan was created in January 2014 as part of NRC’s reorganization process. We currently have more than 3,000 staff in the Middle East region assisting people displaced by conflict in Syria, Libya Iraq, Lebanon, Jordan and Palestine. Our work is concentrated on the shelter, education, food security, legal assistance and water, sanitation and hygiene sectors with strong protection and resilience focus integrated into our programs.

Position Description:
The purpose of this role is to provide effective resourcing solutions to ensure NRC can recruit, retain and develop high quality staff within the region. The role will be responsible for providing effective and seamless end-to-end recruitment processes for an assigned portfolio. The role will contribute to providing innovative approaches to sourcing, selection and placement and contributing to internal talent management and surge capacity.
Specific responsibilities related to this position include:
- Contribute to the development and implementation of recruitment, surge and workforce planning strategies for MERO in coordination with the HR and Recruitment Advisors
- Contribute to the development of systems and implement specific HR procedures, SOPs, guidelinesand tools in recruitment, selection, surge capacity and workforce planning in MERO.
- Maintain knowledge of and sensitivity to the constantly changing environment of the marketplace relative to the sourcing and recruitment of qualified professionals
- Develop, build and maintain candidate relationships through ongoing communications regarding questions, updates and status during the interview process
- Oversee the onboarding process for successful candidates, providing HR advice and assistance and ensure effective handover to the HR Advisor on deployment of new staff
- Ensure guidance, support and capacity building to HR staff and line managers in Country Offices in the region on NRC’s Recruitment policies, strategies and systems
- Maintain current knowledge of applicable laws, regulations and NRC policies and benefits for international staff
- Maintain knowledge of regional and programme context to ensure effective sourcing and selection support
- Conduct research and stay up to date on recruitment best practices and trends
- Participate in projects and special assignments as requested
