If you are passionate about making a lasting difference for Palestine refugees, this role will provide you with the opportunity to manage the development and implementation of advocacy strategy to ensure optimal strategic outreach and fundraising efforts for UNRWA’s private sector portfolio.
The main responsibilities include:
 Managing the development and implementation of advocacy strategy for UNRWA’s private
sector portfolio to ensure optimal outreach and fundraising efforts; advising on outreach
efforts for advocacy with various local and international partners (including civil society
groups) in order to raise the strategic profile of the Agency;
 Developing new approaches for improving advocacy and outreach planning and reporting
procedures to raise strategic outreach efforts for private partners; providing strategic
advice to the Director, Deputy Director and other senior staff and consultants in the
Division through regular follow up and reporting on advocacy efforts and presenting
evidence-based proposals for engagement in advocacy; conducting regular research on
potential partners for the Agency for advocacy and fundraising efforts, including outlining
and monitoring risks and opportunities;
 Representing UNRWA in advocacy and outreach efforts and managing relationships with highlevel
influential celebrities, Arab and Palestinian diaspora and other supporters who wish to
engage with UNRWA in advocacy and fundraising efforts; working closely with Student
Parliamentarians on advocacy events, and mentoring them on messaging in support of
UNRWA;
 Being responsible for the implementation of the advocacy plan for the Division; working
closely with the Social Media Specialist and the Communications Division staff to ensure
systematic implementation of and follow up on advocacy plans and efforts that are directly
related to fundraising;
 Managing and organizing local and high-level international events that are meant to
promote advocacy of UNRWA’s work both internally and externally;
 In collaboration with the Communications Division and the Social Media Specialist,
contributing to the creation of advocacy products including social media ads and power point
presentations that carefully promote the work of UNRWA for target audiences.
Conditions of service
UNRWA offers an attractive compensation package including annual salary starting at $71,332
net tax free with post adjustment of 48% (subject to change without notice). All UNRWA duty
stations (with the exception of Gaza and Syria) are family duty stations. Other benefits, subject to
eligibility, include:

Additional information
The incumbent may be required to travel whenever requested to meet local and international
partners.
To qualify for this position, you will need:
Education Advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) from an accredited
educational institution in political science, international relations, business
or public administration, law, economics, development or humanitarian
studies or a related discipline; a first-level university degree in
combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be
accepted in lieu of an advanced university degree.
Work
experience
A minimum of eight years of progressively responsible experience in
advocacy, including developing and implementing projects with an
international NGO or UN agency, including two years of relevant
experience at international level outside one’s home country.
Extensive experience in developing and implementing advocacy plans and
messaging particularly in support of vulnerable/minority groups.
Demonstrated experience in public speaking, working with partners and
with well-known public figures on advocacy efforts.
Language(s) Excellent command of written and spoken English.
