The Opportunity
The Regional Information and Communications Manager is a key position leading on management of information on the Middle East and Eastern Europe (MEEE) Region’s County Offices and humanitarian responses and ensuring that the region is well-represented through timely and high-quality communications materials for donor, campaign, media, social media and member use. This position supports the Country Offices and humanitarian responses in the region, ensuring visibility of the MEEE Region’s humanitarian responses and campaigns on Save the Children’s internal and external platforms.

The Regional Information & Communications Manager acts as the key focal point across the region for information and communication material requests from members and country offices. This position acts as the liaison for communications between the region and the Save the Children International Centre in London, as well as Save the Children members and regions around the world.

The individual supports country level information & communications officers to produce products as required, and works closely with the info/comms teams in country to represent them on global platforms, coordinating and engaging them in regional and global campaigns and in the work to implement the regional communications and advocacy work plan. In terms of communications the aim is to deliver a high quality, impactful package of info/communications for emergency responses – including situation reports, fact sheets, cost examples, communications packs, maps, tables, case studies showing need and our response and emotive, child-focused photographs, blogs, social media content, b-roll etc to ensure compelling storytelling and messaging in order to raise the pr ofile of our humanitarian responses in the Middle East and Eastern Europe Region. In this role, the post holder should be able to move projects forward with limited in-country support.

The role also involves supporting with recruitment, induction and training of communications staff in the region, as well as being deployed to gather communications content where relevant. The individual in this role coordinates the communication materials for public advocacy and media ‘moments’, sorting out and arranging sign off on content once it comes in, as well as dissemination of communication materials through the relevant Save the Children channels. The individual supports the regional roll-out of IT projects and follow-up support needed on these, including Content Hub, Onenet, Workplace and the Country Microsites. The Regional Info/Comms Manager acts as the regional focal point on global brand and social media, and also provides communications guidance and training. Support to SC Members includes helping them locate the right information on the MEEE’s emergency responses, arranging sign off on communications material related to the MEEE, supporting on coordination of field visits, support in ensuring content required for them to carry out campaigning and fundraising is collected and providing communications guidance to members on public messaging for communications materials.In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly.

In order to be successful you will bring/have:
* Significant experience of working overseas in humanitarian programmes
* Previous experience of creating a virtual team through technical supervision and support of people working remotely
* Experience of leading communication activities (including information management) in a challenging environment
* Evidence of excellent verbal and written communication skills for a wide range of different audiences including donors, journalists and the ‘general public’.
* Excellent relationship building skills in order to work for limited periods within programmes under pressure of running emergency responses
* An initiative-taking, proactive, inspiring attitude with the ability to manage and prioritise an unpredictable workload and solve problems quickly with limited support
* Ability to deliver high-quality photographs and case studies from affected communities
* Experience of delivering training, presentations and other capacity building activities to varied audiences, ideally within a country programme.
* Excellent IT skills, especially in Microsoft Word
* Excellent understanding of ‘head office’ communication and information needs across fundraising, media and campaigning activities.
* Strong influencing skills
* Politically and culturally sensitive with qualities of patience, tact and diplomacy
* The capacity and willingness to be extremely flexible and accommodating in difficult and sometimes insecure working circumstances.
* Commitment to the aims and principles of Save the Children. In particular, a good understanding of the Save the Children mandate and child focus and an ability to ensure this continues to underpin our support
