The Middle East Regional Office based in Amman, Jordan was created in January 2014 as part of NRC’s reorganization process. We currently have more than 3,000 staff in the Middle East region assisting people displaced by conflict in Syria, Libya Iraq, Lebanon, Jordan and Palestine. Our work is concentrated on the shelter, education, food security, legal assistance and water, sanitation and hygiene sectors with strong protection and resilience focus integrated into our programs.

Our Ideal Candidate:
A highly experienced professional with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in Protection and Advocacy in the humanitarian/recovery context. the candidate should have a professional knowledge and understanding of the use of media and communication for public advocacy. Strong communication skills, proven result related to the position’s responsibilities, a very good experience with advocacy campaigns, fluent in English and Arabic is an asset.

Position Description:

Regional Head of Advocacy, Media and Communications (RHoAMC) MERO, is responsible for providing Advocacy, Media and Communication capacity support and coordination to the associated Country Offices and leading them in the fulfilment of their respective ToR’s. This will be fulfilled through the following:

• Define and coordinate the Middle East region’s strategic advocacy response
• Support Country Offices to develop country-level advocacy plans which include identified protection and programme priorities
• Provide support to Country Offices to strengthen their capacity on advocacy and improve the quality of prioritized advocacy initiatives both aimed at national and international targets
• In coordination with relevant geographical Programme Advisers, provide timely regional and context-specific information to internal and external stakeholders
• Provide regional coordination and support to Country Offices to strengthen their communication and media capacity.
• Ensure coordinated linkages between Country Offices and NRC’s Representation Offices, NRC’s Internal Displacement Monitoring Centre
• (IDMC), and the Head Office Media Section in order to leverage resources and effectively maximise the advocacy reach to target audiences
• Carry out other duties of temporary character appointed by the Middle East Regional Director
