General Purpose of the Position

The Psychosocial Counselor supports the delivery of PSS activities in the JRS Community Learning Center, designs, and conducts psychosocial sessions and recreational activities for children and adults with the support of the Lead Psychologist.

Main Responsibilities of the Position

• Supports the implementation of the non-formal education programme for children and adults.

• Designs, plans, organizes, and implements psychosocial group sessions for children and adults to foster their wellbeing and strengthen their ability to cope with their situation.

• Supports the Team in tasks related to all Protection Issues arising in the Centre and in Outreach.

• Identifies children and adults who need specialized psychosocial support, and refers them in accordance with JRS internal referral mechanisms.

• Ensures activities and programmes run according to the plan and best practices.

• Facilitates and participates in the analysis of the existing psychosocial cases, through transparent scoping activities, i.e. workshops, sessions, support groups.

• Submits data for required reports and prepares monthly reports and updates as required by the Lead Psychologist.

• Analyses the needs of refugees and suggest new initiatives to the Lead Psychologist.

• Be available for other duties and activities as requested by the Project Director, which are within the ambit of the position.

Skills & Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in psychology or any other related field.

• 1-2 years of work experience in a field related to psychosocial support. Previous work with refugees is preferable.

• Excellent command of both written and spoken Arabic and English.

• Ability to work within a team structure, flexible, and capable of coping with stressful workloads and limited resources.

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work within different cultural environments.

• The psychosocial counselor should demonstrate self-awareness, objectivity, and a strong desire to help others.

• Honest, of integrity, hardworking, self-motivated, and active listener person
