Pre-Service Teacher Education in Jordan (PRESTIJ)

USAID’s Pre-Service Teacher Education in Jordan (PRESTIJ) seeks to support an increased and sustainable supply of certified primary school teachers in Jordan by improving the system of pre-service teacher education programming offered by Jordanian universities, centered primarily around the implementation of the adapted Queen Rania Teacher Academy (QRTA) pre-service teacher education modules.

The Organizational Development Capacity Building Expert will work with universities to ensure that they have the functional and transparent systems in place to improve quality of teacher education and curricula. They will support universities to ensure that operational systems are in place to support student recruitment and retention, and that such initiatives are scalable across universities and departments.

Responsibilities

• Lead participatory university self-assessment as related to quality implementation of teacher-ed course;

• Work closely with universities to co-design interventions and support to improve overall quality of pre-service training and student retention and gender diversity;

• Ensure that beneficiary universities have sufficient management and communications systems and capacity to implement strong teacher training programs and curricula;

• Management of university evaluation and intervention follow up systems;

• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Strong knowledge of the education sector in Jordan, in particular higher education;

• Proven experience in evaluation and analytics, and/or business growth advisory (consulting) experience;

• Experience managing scholarships and coordinating with universities in scholarship management and disbursements;

• Professional level of verbal and written fluency in English as well as in Arabic; Jordan Nationals preferred;

• Commitment to inclusive programming that encourages full participation of individuals regardless of gender, disability status, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity or other marginalized status.
