We are seeking an experienced Gender Equity & Workforce Lead for the USAID-funded Women’s Economic Empowerment and Leadership Activity (WEELA) in Jordan focused on increasing women’s access to waged employment and leadership opportunities in Jordan by improving women’s access to the job market, enhancing the workforce enabling environment, and addressing inequal and prohibitive social norms and traditions.
The Gender Equity & Workforce Lead role combines both program management and technical responsibilities. They will be responsible in helping the project team achieve its goal of improving women’s access to jobs in the private sector and increasing the leadership opportunities of women in the private and public sector. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of strong leadership, organizational management, exemplary communication skills; and be politically savvy with the ability to solve problems quickly while ensuring program quality and integrity. Strong track record of effective management in Jordan or the middle east region strongly preferred.
Recruitment is contingent upon successful award of the project. Interviews will be conducted on a rolling basis and qualified candidates should apply as soon as possible.
• Provide overall leadership, management, and strategic direction for the program, ensuring that the needs of female beneficiaries are well understood, and that training services and employment targets are met;
• Provides expert technical guidance on all aspects to implementing partner, Mission and other stakeholders including performance assessments, performance solutions design and performance monitoring and management system design.
• In conjunction with the donor, World Learning, and other partners, determine monthly priorities, develop work plans, and ensure the program responds to changing conditions and operating environments.
• Manage and supervise the project’s long-term consultant team, and short-term consultants such as trainers;
• Coordinate with project partners, mentors, and other key stakeholders including private sector actors;
• Contribute to screening of applicants, and other aspects of direct implementation;
• Oversee program administration, implementation, and fiscal management;
• Oversee and monitor quality of program activities, and ensure reports, work plans, and other program deliverables are timely and of high quality;
• Other responsibilities as assigned.
• M.A. degree in a relevant field and minimum 8 years of relevant experience, or B.A. and minimum of 10 years of relevant experience; experience leading complex, fast-paced programs in emerging democracies; with experience working for a donor-funded development project in similar size and scope, preferably in Jordan or the region
• Demonstrated technical experience (and management) in women and/or youth workforce development and employment; experience in managing projects with grants-making, mentorship and trainings;
• Experience managing donor relationships and reporting requirements required. Experience with US government donors preferred;
• Excellent communication and diplomatic skills with track record of collaborative and responsive management;
• Strong leadership and personnel management skills;
• Experience and understanding of private sector industry in Jordan;
• Commitment to inclusive programming that encourages full participation of all individuals
• Jordanian nationality and verbal and written fluency in Arabic required; English fluency preferred.
