JOB DESCRIPTION – RESPONSIBILITIES

Work Location: Amman, Jordan



Starting date: July-Aug 2019

Working under the supervision of the DKH Regional Coordinator, and in close collaboration with Program and Finance Coordinators of the DKH RO, the CBIA Coordinator is responsible to fulfil the following tasks:

Coordinating the Capacity Building Program

  • The overall implementation of the DKH RO Capacity Building Initiative Asia Program (CBIA)
  • Contributing to designing and strategizing the CBIA Program Activities
  • Development of a work plan and milestones for the Program
  • Supporting Program Staff with assessing and analysing learning needs of DKH strategic partners on a continuous basis
  • Control over CBIA Program Budget
  • Liaising with training service providers, consultants and internal trainers for planning and implementation of CB measures
  • Facilitation of any necessary contractual arrangements to be made with training providers
  • Liaising and coordinating with DKH RO strategic partners for planning and implementation of CB measures
  • Overall responsibility of logistical arrangement for implementation of CB measures
  • Impact monitoring of CB activities implemented
  • Evaluate partners’ understanding of tools and methodologies
  • Monitoring and reviewing of CBIA Program performance and undertaking necessary adaptations in terms of design, implementation and budgeting of the program. Compiling lessons learned and ensuring evaluation processes are in place
  • If applicable developing of proposals for additional CB Program funds
  • Support DKH RO Asia in the overall organisation of training, workshops or any other CB activity
  • Support staff in facilitating trainings/workshops

Quality Assurance/ Information and Knowledge Management

  • Support DKH RO Asia with collecting, structuring and sharing internal know-how.
  • Harmonize internal tools & methodologies for a streamlined approach in the different countries of intervention
  • Support DKH RO Asia developing training material: modules, tools, presentations
  • Support regional exchange between partners (e.g. organisation of workshops, creation of forums)
  • Maintain database of consultants and training providers
  • Maintain library of tools and methodologies
  • Compile the different tools into sectoral toolkits
  • Prepare publications;
  • Monitoring the different opportunities for capacity building of the Regional Office staff: trainings, international conferences
  • Desk research and dissemination of newest developments of Humanitarian Standards, approaches, policies;
  • Monitoring the key developments related to Humanitarian Assistance in each country of intervention
  • Keeping the DKH RO Team abreast of key developments related to Humanitarian Assistance through regular dissemination via email/newsletter or other means.
  • Ensure internalization/capitalization of knowledge and know-how when planning trainings and other activities

Reporting

  • Provide monthly and quarterly reports (narrative and financial) on all Capacity Building activities to DKH HQ;
  • Keep track on all capacity building measures implemented with partners in the agreed reporting format;

QUALIFICATION, EXPERTISE AND SKILLS

Qualification, Expertise and Skills

  • At least 5 years of relevant work experience, and 3 year of experience in the field of humanitarian action or development;
  • University degree (or comparable work experience) in a relevant field;
  • Understanding of key terms of project cycle management, needs assessment, project planning, proposal writing, and monitoring & evaluation;
  • Experience in working with local organizations based on equal partnership principle;
  • Good understanding of key principles of humanitarian aid and international NGOs including accountability, impartiality, neutrality, independence
  • Ability to structure information and establish systems
  • Languages: fluent in written and spoken English
  • Experience in facilitating trainings/workshops is an asset
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
  • Highly organized, detail oriented, and able to work under pressure
  • Proactive, able to come up with initiatives or undertake actions with minimal supervision
  • Energetic, independent yet excellent team player
  • Experience working in different cultural work environments & ability to perform tasks with sensitivity to the local culture, to interact effectively and professionally with persons from diverse cultural, socio-economic, educational, racial, ethnic and professional backgrounds;
  • Outstanding personal attitude: especially sense of responsibility, concern for quality, result orientation and nonetheless sense of humor;
  • Outstanding personal values: integrity, commitment, respect for diversity, excellent interpersonal skills.
