ActionAid Arab Region currently seeks an energetic Advocacy and Campaigning Coordinator to join its team based in Amman, Jordan. The position reports to the Regional Director and Head of Programs with specific lines of duties and responsibilities. This is a full-time position open to candidates with valid residency permit in Jordan.

As Advocacy and Campaigning Coordinator, you will be tasked with the following tasks:

• Lead the development of ActionAid Arab Region advocacy and campaigning strategies and ensure their implementation at national and regional levels.
• Conduct research and analysis of relevant policy issues and monitor political developments at the national and regional levels regarding ActionAid Arab Region.
• Draft and contribute to the development of positions, advocacy strategies, briefing papers, statements, opinion pieces and other outreach and policy products.
• Engage and Liaison with ActionAid Arab Region external stakeholders, partners and allies and/or representatives of social and political institutions relevant to main thematic areas.
• Design and implement influence and advocacy campaigns at policy level, outreach and to achieve goals and objective of overall as well specific ActionAid Arab Region policy, or policy change, or both at national and regional levels.
• Conduct and take lead in risk assessment(s) either on overall campaigning and advocacy levels (including operational and civic space related risk assessment) or related to targeted and specific campaign and/or advocacy project.
• Coordinate with several internal stakeholders, offices, departments and staff within ActionAid Arab Region and ActionAid global movement with delegated responsibilities.
• Establish, lead and provide timely reporting on progress, achievements, barriers and other critical information related to campaigning and advocacy efforts undertaken on behalf of ActionAid Arab Region.
• Manage media relations building on national and regional levels, including building long-term and effective collaboration with journalists, reporters, editors and social media activists.
• Participate and contribute data and information to monitoring and evaluation processes including setting up responsive campaign and advocacy baselines, targets and indicators.

  The Candidate

  To qualify for this exciting role at ActionAid Arab Region you will bring:

• Five to Seven years’ experience as Advocacy Officer or Campaigning Officer/Coordinator or both, or Communications and Advocacy Officer in local, regional and/or international NGO or social movement.
• Superb Arabic and English writing skills, including drafting press releases, statements and social media content
• Demonstrated deep knowledge of the social and political context in Jordan, as well as fair knowledge and understanding of regional context.
• Familiar with the Human-Rights based approach and willing to learn and improve understanding of the approach.
• Experience of working with teams in an organization or movement to develop and deliver campaigning actions and activities.
• Demonstrated solid knowledge of campaigning and/or advocacy (or both) design, techniques, strategies and tactics.
• Excellent communication skills, with strong preference to public speaking.
• Commitment to ActionAid global goals and objectives.
