Media and Communications Intern

General Context – Organization vision, mission and role in the country

Un Ponte Per … is an association for international solidarity born in 1991 to assist populations affected by the Gulf War. From the very beginning, its aim has been the promotion of solidarity initiatives. Originally called “Un Ponte Per Baghdad”, the association later became simply Un Ponte Per… after expanding its work into Serbia, Kosovo and various Middle Eastern and Mediterranean countries. The purpose of the association is to prevent the outbreak of new conflicts, particularly in the Middle East, through advocacy campaigns, cultural exchanges, cooperation projects and civil peace interventions. Un Ponte Per… considers solidarity interventions to be indivisible from the commitment to building links between the Italian civil society and the civil societies of the countries in which it operates. UPP has been active in Jordan for 11 years, working with local organizations that support the rights and protection of vulnerable communities, including women, children, people with disabilities, Syrian refugees and other minorities. After implementing interventions in the Education and Health sectors, Un Ponte Per… is now operating through Protection and Livelihoods projects for both the host and the refugee communities, targeting various needs of vulnerable populations through comprehensive protection services.

Project – Description of the project the position attains

We’re looking for a creative, organized, and self-motivated individual to join our team as a Media and Communications Intern. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the social media management, content creation including audio/video/photographic capture and assist with live event and other duties as assigned. As part of the media team the candidate will have the opportunity to get involved in a range of exciting projects and campaigns.

Terms of references:

The Media and Communications Intern will organize and implement the following activities:

· Develop, support and promote the organization goals, including message development, social media content creation and media outreach

· Coordinate, design, write, edit and produce engaging external and internal communication materials

· Support the ongoing development of the organization’s Facebook, including the development of new content

· Management of social media platforms and monitoring of social media activity

· Preparation of presentation materials for the organisation for delivery to stakeholders and donors

· Support the regional offices in their local promotional activities

Competencies and assets required:

· Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or related field

· Experience and skills in software design (e.g. Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills

· Strong creative skills (writing, photography, design)

· Excellent critical thinking skills and the ability to exercise good judgment and solve problems quickly and effectively

· Fluent in English and Arabic language.

Competencies and assets desired:

· 1+ years of relevant work experience.

· Familiarity with the Syrian refugee crisis in Jordan or in other states of the region.

· Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
