The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan is leader in the region for the rights of its children. Working closely with the Government of Jordan, civil society, the private sector and communities, UNICEF Jordan Country Office aims to sustain results achieved for children to date, and strive to further improve policies, national institutions and programmes, for the well-being of every child in Jordan, in line with Jordan’s Vision 2025 and the National Human Resources Development Strategy (2016-2025)towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. Our programmes focus on improving the lives of the most vulnerable and disadvantaged children in the Kingdom, irrespective of their nationality, gender, religion or background. Our main pillars include: Child Protection; Education; Water, Sanitation & Hygiene; Adolescent and Youth Engagement; Health and Nutrition; Social Protection; and Operations.

Makani (“My Space” in Arabic) is a comprehensive approach to service provision linking interventions in education – learning support services; child protection – community-based child protection services; early childhood development, adolescent and youth participation – life skills and innovation labs; as well as integration of health and nutrition and water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) services. The program aims to promote and contribute to children’s, youth and parent’s full development and well-being – physical, cognitive, social and emotional. In 2019, the Makani program gave special attention to the importance of access to sports for adolescents and youth, especially for females and in camps. Offering various sport services such as: Rugby, Taekwondo, Wrestling, Zumba and many others. In 2019, an online learning program was introduced in Makani centers for an effort to build the digital and language literacy for both Children and youth, offering a variety of courses ranging from Basic computer navigation to AutoCAD.

How can you make a difference?

  • Data collection and cleaning for the registration period of the incentive-based volunteers, this includes the request and direct supervision of additional volunteers.
  • Collection of complaints received through the complaint boxes in educational facilities, this includes the referral of cases to the responsible sections for investigation if needed.
  • Administration of spot checks for major procurement deliveries.
  • Update the Master price list for any new procurement and comparing prices with the quotation received by the contractor.
  • Verify invoices for tax exemption.
  • Support in data filing and documentation.
  • Taking and preparing meeting minutes.
  • Updating action trackers for the contractors.
  • Providing support for the field-based employees in operation management and task follow up
  • Attaining to the completion of satisfaction surveys and analyzing data accordingly.
  • Preform data cleaning, compiling and reporting

SCOPE: Support will be both field and office based, in both Makani and educational facilities.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • Are enrolled or graduated within the past two years with a university degree in the field of management, logistics or any other related fields.
  • Fluency in both Arabic and English is required.
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbally).
  • Excellent Computer skills
  • Strong organizational and logistical skills
  • Strong cultural awareness and sensitivity.

Eligibility:

  • Have no immediate relatives (e.g. father, mother, brother, sister) working in any UNICEF office; and
  • Have no other relatives in the line of authority which the intern will report to
  • Excellent academic performance, as demonstrated by recent university or institution record
