CONSULTANCY – TERMS OF REFERENCE

UNRWA is a United Nations agency established by the General Assembly in 1949 and is mandated to provide assistance and protection to a population of some 5 million registered Palestine refugees. Its mission is to help Palestine refugees in Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, West Bank and the Gaza Strip to achieve their full potential in human development, pending a just solution to their plight. UNRWA’s services encompass education, health care, relief and social services, camp infrastructure and improvement, microfinance and emergency assistance. UNRWA is the largest UN operation in the Middle East with more than 30,000 staff. UNRWA is funded almost entirely by voluntary contributions.

Consultant – Business Intelligence (BI) Specialist – OLAP Design and Implementation

HQ Amman/ Gaza

BACKGROUND

The incumbent is responsible to the Solution Architect who is managing the Enterprise Business Intelligence project at UNRWA HQ Amman.

Description of Duties and Responsibilities

· Design and documentation for the OLAP Database using SSAS database objects;

· Design and documentation for the Reports and Dashboards using Microsoft Power BI;

· Deployment and configuration packages for all created work components.

minimum Qualifications and Experience

· A university degree from an accredited educational institute in computer science, computer engineering or other related discipline;

· At least five years’ work experience in the area of software applications development and implementation including two years at a senior level;

· Experience in design cubes for the provided complex business requirements;

· Experience in design Reports and Dashboards using Microsoft Power BI connecting to OLAP cubes or any other data sources;

· Experience in Microsoft Business Intelligence Architecture;

· Experience in Microsoft SQL Server Architecture;

· Experience in end to end Microsoft Business Intelligence Implementation projects;

· Experience in writing MDX /DMX expression for Microsoft Analysis Services.

· Training skills and ability to make clear presentations;

· Teamwork and ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

· Experience with UNRWA or other UN agencies.

CONDITIONS OF SERVICE

· The duration of the consultancy is 9 months with the expected start date of April 2019;

· Remuneration for this consultancy will depend on the qualifications and experience of the candidate;

· The incumbent will be based in in Amman or Gaza; according to the country of residence of the candidate;

· The incumbent will be expected to travel in the Agency’s area of operations.
