Grants Officer

MEDA invites applications for the post of Grants Officer for the Jordan Valley Links project in Amman, Jordan. MEDA is a non-governmental, not-for-profit organization registered in Canada and the United States. It was founded in 1953 by a small group of business people who saw the need to invest with, and provide support to entrepreneurs and communities to help them take advantage of economic opportunities. Position Summary

The Grants Officer will be responsible for supporting the administration of WYE grants. The Officer works across all program areas, including collaborating with finance, technical team and cross cutting team to ensure effective and efficient grant making processes. This position will be based in Amman and will involve frequent travel to project locations countrywide to monitor spending related activities as stated in the grant’s application.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Collaborate closely at all stages of the grant process with the value chain specialists and other cross-cutting team.
  2. Support the grants management process including applicant’s compliance, technical and financial eligibility, as needed.
  3. Coordinate with Finance Department on the issuance of new grants/contracts, following procedures listed under the Grants Guidelines and Innovation Fund and Matching Grants Procedure Manual.
  4. Coordinate with Finance Department on updating the internal CRM with all applicant’s status and data as needed.
  5. Effectively sourcing information internally to include in progress reports.
  6. Work closely with the technical team for reviews and approvals based on project’s grants work plan and follow up till the issuance of final agreements and grant disburse.
  7. Responsible for periodic grants reporting and documentation (i.e. expenditure and action plan implementation through analyzing monthly / quarterly financial reports, spending of each grants etc…)
  8. Provide support to grantees through periodic site visits (Monitoring and Mentoring visits and scheduled special meetings to monitor spending-related activities as stated in the grant’s application.
  9. Maintain a knowledge repository of all grantees and applicants throughout the project duration.
  10. Support MEDA engagement with the Business Development Service providers
  11. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Essential Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, management, finance or any related field.
  • Demonstrate Experience with NGOs / INGOs and/or community-based organizations is preferred. Specially in the field of grants management
  • Willingness to travel to the field on a regular basis.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to effectively use computer software including MS Word, and Excel.
  • Ability to stay highly organized and manage multiple deadlines and competing priorities.
  • Fluent in both Arabic and English
  • Applicant must be Jordanian National
