- Support corporate finance and resource management strategies and programme initiatives using finance and resource management expertise.
- Analyse and report on key data for financial status and outcomes of projects in accordance with corporate guidelines
- Perform bank reconciliations, clearance of receivables, overall cash management and monthly financial closures on a regular basis.
- Coordinate with other units and give guidance on the interim and year end closure processes.
- Processes staff payroll ensuring that staff are paid on time.
- Collate and analyse data for the preparation of accurate and timely reporting, in order to provide management with financial, accounting and budgetary information to enable them to make informed decisions.
- Track and analyse data to identify opportunities for improvements to policies, systems and procedures to minimise financial risks, improve the efficiency and effectiveness of operations.
- Deliver financial controls and insight into WFP performance, undertaking periodic risk and internal control assessments to identify areas which may present potential audit, compliance or financial risks.
- Ensure transparent and efficient use of WFP’s financial resources;
- Oversee periodic confirmation of vendor and bank balances.
- Ensure that disbursements are made based on proper authorisations and supported by legitimate and sufficient documentation.
- Respond to audit and oversight queries and follow up on related recommendations.
- Ensure efficient local banking arrangements and compliance with local financial and banking regulations.
- Ensure that cash-based transfers (CBT) finance functions are conducted with required internal controls and in accordance with manuals and guidelines to timely deliver assistance to beneficiaries.
- Take the lead in conducting financial assessments of potentials and existing financial service providers.
- Coordinate with and supervise the performance of financial service providers in delivering cash-based assistance to beneficiaries.
- Ensure integrity and consistency of data in WFP financial and accounting systems.
- Draft correspondence and internal procedural directives relating to financial matters.
- Contribute to preparedness actions such as, risk analysis and contingency planning and make the necessary recommendations.
- Periodically monitor cash-based transfer risks and report on any actions taken.
- Supervise and guide staff as required.
- Perform other related duties as required.
