Protection Officer SC8

Within delegated authority, the Protection Officer will be responsible for the following duties:
- Support the Protection Advisor in building knowledge on protection, accountability to affected populations and do-no-harm principles through conducting different types of Protection related trainings for hotline staff, field monitors and programme staff of the WFP Country Office (CO);
- Support the Protection Advisor in building knowledge on protection, accountability to affected populations and do-no-harm principles through conducting sensitization and Protection related trainings for cooperating partners including (I)NGOs and;
- Assist the Protection Advisor in ensuring the consideration of Protection and Accountability to Affected Populations (AAP) aspects during assessment, planning, implementation and monitoring in all CO activities and programmes
- Assist the Protection Advisor with the implementation of recommendations from internal and external audit, evaluations and reviews related to Protection and AAP;
- Ensure protection issues raised from the field or programme activities are adequately documented, reported and handled in a timely manner;
- Follow-up on protection issues raised through the hotline and field monitoring visits;
- Collaborate closely with the CO’s gender focal point regarding issues related to gender and protection;
- Together with the Protection Advisor, assist the CO’s protection and AAP working group and follow up on action points as required;
- In collaboration with the relevant Country Office units, provide advice, guidance and follow-up in relation to any protection problems related to the safe delivery of food, cash and vouchers to beneficiaries during implementation
- Together with the Protection Advisor, ensure WFP representation in relevant Protection forums, inter-agency meetings at (Amman level, camp level, host community level), as well as referral meetings.
- Together with the Protection Advisor, collaborate with national and international organisations on protection related issues in order to further the CO’s protection streamlining
- Assist in mainstreaming and implementation of disability guidelines and referral mechanisms for persons with special needs/disabilities
- Any other tasks as requested.
