PURPOSE OF POSITION

To increase public engagement on WV Syria programming and its impact on children, by remotely sourcing content from our partners inside Syria, to be edited, packaged and shared with comms, advocacy and donor teams around the WV Partnership. To meet response and partnership communications requirements as outlined in the Response External Relations strategy.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

Resource Production and Publication

1. Source, research, write and share stories about successes and needs in World Vision Syria projects.
2. Source content, including photos and videos, from our partners inside Syria. Caption, upload, share and publish as appropriate.
3. Regularly pitch story, photo and other resource ideas through the Story Hub website.
4. Advise partners working in Syria on how to gather the best content possible to meet our donor and comms needs.
5. Ensure all written, photographic, video, web and other resources produced are carried out in alignment with World Vision child protection standards.

Support in WV’s compliance with global branding and corporate identity.

Media Relations and Risk

1. Monitor news media coverage of World Vision International and humanitarian issues regarding the Syria Crisis.
2. Identify and help respond to any reputation risk issues.
3. Support translation of key documents including press release and speeches to provide information to the local media (if appropriate).
4. Provide social media content to the partnership as required.
   Risk is reported as per WV global protocols and channels.

Assist with Syria Response-wide communications

1. Work in collaboration with Syria Communications Advisor to assist with Syria Response Communications Director work in Jordan and Turkey.This may involve (but not be limited to) preparing for VIP visits, and editing content.
2. Communicate internally to WV staff on key events. Pitch stories to the Communications Director.

Brand protection

Support in monitoring and signing-off on publications and other materials produces containing the World Vision logo to ensure consistency with WVI corporate branding guidelines.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

· Excellent creative, organizational and critical thinking skills as well as the ability to work within and across teams and with all levels of staff and stakeholders; resourceful and innovative;

· Proficiency in the use of technology and software (Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Professional, Google Products);

· Willingness to participate in capacity building initiatives, and implement learnings on-the-job

· Willingness to assume duties and responsibilities in all communications areas, as needed; Pro-active and able to multi-task

· Knowledge of technical aspects involved in the production of different public information and education materials;

· Multimedia skills such as video production, photo management and graphic design

· Experience or knowledge of copywriting and copyediting

· At least one year of experience working with an NGO or media outlet;

· At least 1 year of experience in doing communications and media work, preferably with an NGO;

· Undergraduate degree in a media related field (journalism, photography, media relations…etc)
