The company: EcoHotels won Bank Al Etihad’s 2018 award for best SME in Jordan. We operate the award winning Feynan Ecolodge, chosen by National Geographic Traveler as one of the best 25 ecolodges in the world.
Our business at Feynan is growing and we are now working on the development of other lodges in Jordan with the aim of further expansion in the Middle East. We are looking for a select exceptional dedicated individuals to join our team to help us achieve our growth. Safe to say we are an exciting, growing company and we are dedicated to providing our guests with numerous unique and authentic experiences while doing our best for the environment and the betterment of the communities where we work.
1. Operations Manager
The role: Working with the Operations Director, your role will be to help develop and implement standard operating procedures, guest experiences, environmental practices, new technologies and efficiency systems at our properties, starting with Feynan Ecolodge. You will also help local community members develop their own microbusinesses. You will be involved with researching and sourcing of all the goods and services needed for the operation of our properties, purchasing, administering of staff schedules and training. Over 60% of the role is field based, so you should be willing to spend 3-4 days a week at one of our properties.
What we are looking for: You are a go getter, a natural leader, ideally with 5+ years’ experience in an operational role in a hotel or an environmental or community based project. You are a very well rounded person, who loves a challenge and you are not afraid to get your hands dirty. You are an outgoing people’s person and you enjoy dealing with people from any culture, community, background, age, sex, etc… You are results oriented and meticulous with great attention to detail. You are also a power computer user, and it would be a great asset if you are also a techie at heart and into computers and gadgets. You are a good communicator with fluency in both English and Arabic. Finally, you need to have a driving license.
2. Marketing Communications/Social Media Executive
The role: Working with the Managing Director, you will be responsible of all marketing communications activities with focus on social media, media relations, website content and marketing collateral. You will manage EcoHotels’ online advertising and presence via Facebook, Instagram & Twitter. You will also oversee external relationships with the media, media requests and facilitating site visits by the press. You will manage relationships with 3rd party suppliers such as graphic designers for the development of creative content. You will drive the relationship with industry partners and you will also help in writing grant proposals, business plans and consulting proposals.
What we are looking for: You have a minimum of 4 years’ experience in marketing communications with an extensive knowledge of social media and online brand management. You are university educated with excellent written and spoken English skills. You are detail oriented with a proven track record of successful marketing, ideally of tourism products. Arabic language is an asset.
3. Reservations Officers/Sales and Marketing support
The role: We have two vacancies. One senior and one junior. Working within our small reservations department, you will be handling all reservations for our properties coming through our website, phone and email. You will also provide assistance and support to our sales and marketing teams.
What we are looking for: For the senior role, you should have 3+ years’ experience in reservations either at a hotel or tour operator. For the junior role, ideally you are a recent university graduate. For both, you need to be computer literate, a great communicator in Arabic and English, both written and oral, with a good knowledge of Microsoft Office products. You are also personable, detail oriented, well organized and capable of multi-tasking various projects simultaneously.
4. Business Development/Sales Executive
The role: Your mandate would be to increase the number of people coming to Feynan. Working with the Managing Director, you will predominantly be working with corporates and NGOs looking for a venue for training workshops and retreats, groups/yoga/meditation retreats, special events organizers, tour operators and local hotels.
What are we looking for: Ideally, you are a recent university graduate looking for a career in sales, or someone who has 2-3 years’ experience in sales and looking for a new exciting opportunity. You need to be a people’s person. You are outgoing and you enjoy dealing with people from any culture, background, age, sex, etc… You are very social and find it easy to build and maintain relationships. You are customer focused and results oriented. You are also fluent in written and spoken English and spoken Arabic, and numbers do not scare you. You need to be well-organized and good at managing several things at once. You will be happy to travel to Feynan (and other company sites in the future) regularly. Loving the outdoors would be a great asset, as adventure comes with the role. Oh, and you must be a hard working team player willing to do what it takes to get the job done. If you do not have any sales experience, no worries; we do, and we will help you develop your skills. But you should be smart and a quick learner. Although having some background in sales and/or tourism would be helpful, it is not essential and not a show stopper.
Location: All the positions are based at our offices in Amman, but some positions require regular travel to Feynan and other company sites in the future. So yes, you get to change scenery regularly.
