EU Finance Coordinator

The role

This role will support the EuropeAid project teams in the Northwest Syria to ensure financial management support to partners implementing EU awards. This position will support the capacity building of partners in financial systems including financial planning/budgeting, expenses allocation, sub-awards, financial reporting relating to the two EU projects. The role will also be responsible for ensuring finance and EU compliance controls are understood and followed in SCI and with partners – working closely with the EU Awards Coordinator. This role will take a key role in supporting the capacity building of partner staff and a significant component of the role (80%) will be to provide on site support to the partners delivery. During the duration of the role the post holder may be required to extend support to high compliant awards in agreement with line manager.

Qualifications and experience

• Finance/Accounting qualification
• 3-5 years of experience of working in finance department with a NGO
• Experience in assessment and monitoring of partners
• Experience of working with EU projects or other high compliant donors and projects with significant donor compliance requirements
• Knowledge of finance and operational controls in regards to cash transfer programming
• A desire to learn and work in a challenging but rewarding environment
• Ability to work under pressure alone and as part of a team
• A strong sense of integrity
• Attention to detail
• Good working knowledge of Excel
• Good English language skills required
• Arabic and Turkish language skills preferred

Contract length: 12 Months
