Youth Development Programs Coordinator

Position Overview:

The Youth Development Programs Coordinator (YDPC) is responsible for the overall management and operation of AMIDEAST’s programs and initiative targeting vulnerable Jordanian and refugee youth in Jordan. This includes logistics, administrative, and material preparation, students’ recruitment, teachers’ recruitment and payment, partnerships, community service activities, ceremonies management, and other cultural enhancement activities and content. The Coordinator is responsible for developing the monitoring and evaluation criteria in coordination with the Senior Manager and for preparing the quarterly and final reporting for the various programs funded through partnerships and donors.

Role and responsibilities

  • Prepare draft letter to request textbook approvals from Ministry of Education (MOE) to be sent by Country Director;
  • Follow-up with receipt of textbook approvals from MOE;
  • Order textbooks from publisher after preparing purchase orders and obtaining required approvals from the Senior Manager;
  • Distribute books to program teachers in accordance with AMIDEAST guidelines.

Teacher Recruitment

  • Work with Senior Manager to set criteria for teacher recruitment and approval from the cognizant donor POC;

· Assist with interviews and selection of teachers with stakeholders;

· Prepare guidelines for teachers responsibilities;

· Submit teacher list for background checks

Teacher Payment

  • Prepare salary voucher payments for instructors;
  • Submit vouchers to the Finance Department for payment;
  • Ensure that all program instructors are paid on time;

Community Service

· Review and approve requests for community service activities;

· Request amendments to existing community service activities;

· Prepare vouchers for teacher reimbursement for community service activities;

· Submit vouchers to the Finance Department for payment;

Reporting

· Finalize quarterly and final reports;

· Submit reports to the Senior Manager for review;

· Send reports to the Country Director for approval;

· Follow up with the Country Director regarding sending reports to HQ for approval;

· Send approved reports to the donor;

· Coordinate with communications officer regarding submitting narrative reports and posting updates on Facebook.

Partnership

· Establish and maintain partnerships with community organizations to implement and achieve program objectives

Monitoring and Evaluation

· Develop monitoring and evaluation criteria in coordination with senior management; analyze evaluation reports;

· Devise remedial action plan based on results of evaluation reports;

Student Recruitment

· Establish criteria for student recruitment with the line management;

· Prepare student application forms;

· Develop work guidelines for teachers;

· Conduct student selection process with the U.S. Embassy;

· Submit students’ lists to donors and local stakeholders as necessary;

Other

  • Maintain accurate and up to date filing and records in compliance with the requirements of the U.S. State Department, the Government of Jordan, and AMIDEAST.
  • Perform any other AMIDEAST work-related duties requested by the department manager or Country Director.

Qualifications

Qualifications are divided into the following two categories:

Professional Qualifications

These are the knowledge, Language proficiency and experience that are important for effective performance:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in business administration, education, or a related field;
  • Very good command of written and spoken English,
  • Fluency in written and spoken Arabic,
  • A minimum of (2) years of work experience in project management preferably in the Education field;
  • A minimum of (1) year of supervisory experience;
  • Quality Assurance background;
  • Knowledge of budgeting and tracking expenses.
