General Purpose of the Position
The main responsibility of the ST is to help students understand Science. The Science Teacher duties will range from the preparation of course work, planning of classes and the marking of work handed in. On top of this he/ she will also be responsible for the safety of pupils during lessons.
He/ she will be working effectively with the Education Coordinator and Project Director in evaluating the educational plans and discussing the development of educational process and overseeing the implementation of science and other teacher-led classes.
Main Responsibilities of the Position
?Work effectively with the Education Coordinator in evaluating the educational plans and discussing the development of the plan;
?Identifying the challenges that facing him/ her and finding solutions to overcome these challenges in collaboration with the Education Coordinator;
?Coordinating effectively with the Education Coordinator to raise the quality of the JRS educational services;
?To follow-up with the admin if there are problems or barriers facing students in completing their studies. In Case the admins have any information regarding a student, the teacher must be informed for a rapid intervention;
?In collaboration with the Education Coordinator, attending internal workshops and training sessions in order to improve the team’s performance;
?Assist in the monitoring and evaluating of the course and the student experience;
?Provide regular feedback to Project Director and Education Coordinator, including delivering mid-term and final course evaluations;
?Identify curriculum needs and request learning tools (e.g. articles, training manuals, media, video clips) from the Education Coordinator; and
?Preparing the necessary data for writing monthly reports and the final results of each educational round.
Typical duties include
?Advising students on learning and teaching issues;
?Organising and delivering classroom lectures to students;
?Evaluating a students’ class work and assignments;
?Preparing classroom and coursework materials and homework assignments;
?Recording and maintain accurate student attendance records and grades;
?Classroom management;
?Developing Science lesson plans in line with the Curriculum;
?Maintaining discipline in the classroom;
?Substituting for absent teacher;
?Competent in using information technology;
?Evaluate student progress on a regular basis and prepare reports; and
?Deliver online lessons and the ability to use the available technology methods needed for that.
Qualifications & Skills
?At least a bachelor’s degree in Science;
?Strong proficiency in both written and spoken English;
?Experience in teaching in emergency contexts;
?Ability to balance multiple responsibilities professionally, quickly, and calmly;
?Understanding of forced migration and refugee issues;
?An appreciation of education delivery in challenging environments; and
?Developed lessons in life.
