CARE is seeking the Assistant Country Director – Programs (ACD-P) who will provide strategic leadership and direction for Jordan Country Office (CO) programs; both development and humanitarian. As a member of the Senior Management Team (SMT), she/he is also expected to actively contribute to the overall governance of the country office and delivery of its strategic and annual operating plans.

The ACD-P is responsible to ensure that programs’ work is integrated and well-coordinated, and that program quality issues, program impact and measurement, and program development are in line with CARE International and CARE Jordan vision, goals, program principles, standards and approaches.

The ACD-P is responsible to ensure that all CARE Jordan’s programs are well implemented, and program teams are aware of updates and progress within all programs. The ACD-P is the leader of the Program Committee of CARE Jordan; contributing to the development of the program strategies, policies, standards and directions, ensuring integration between different programs and projects, maintaining fund-raising momentum and promoting innovations, learning and best practice. Furthermore; the ACD-P is responsible of leading the CO Partnership Strategy; follow-up with key stakeholders and Governmental entities; and ensures maintaining a meaningful relationship with donors, coordination platforms, and all strategic stakeholders.

Additionally, the ACD-P is expected to contribute to strengthening the working relationship of program support with program. The ACD-P fosters a values-based organizational culture and ensuring good internal controls.

In addition, the ACD-P is responsible for the quality and effectiveness of CARE’s humanitarian response and development programming within her/his responsibility. She/he provides support and guidance to the Emergency Response Team (ERT), responsible and accountable for developing, coordinating and managing all emergency activities. Furthermore, she/he is expected to strengthen the CO’s overall capacity to be prepared and respond to emergencies in accordance with accepted principles and practicies, as well as strategically integrate emergency programming within the overall program approach.

Qualifications:

• Postgraduate Degree in Social Sciences, Management or equivalent field, or equivalent combination of education and work experience
• Minimum of ten years’ experience in Senior management position
• Experience of working with partners and multi-stakeholder environments
• A proven record of effective project, program, and portfolio management, including strategic planning and management
• Proven skills in partnership building, influencing and negotiation with a range of stakeholders, including governments, UN agencies, academic institution
