The role
The Project Director will ensure the effective management and coordination of the regional program implemented by Save the Children’s Syria Response Office and Lebanon Country Office, titled ‘Resilient Adolescents in the Syria Crisis’.

Whilst responsibility for the quality of program delivery resides with the Country Offices, the Project Director will ensure effective management of the overall grant with particular attention to overall project cycle management oversight, contractual compliance, positive Donor and Member relations, and the ensuring proactive technical support is provided. The role will maintain a coherent overview of implementation and performance against key indicators, monitor and adjust budgets (as needed) and have forecasting oversight of the overall grant and ensure appropriate, timely and accurate sharing of information with members, and donors.

Given the rapidly changing context on the ground in Syria, and by extension in neighboring countries, the Project Director will be expected to monitor the operational context and initiate and oversee any resulting adjustment or re-design of project activities.

The program for Resilient Adolescents in the Syria Crisis, which is based on the Swedish Government Regional Strategy for the Syria Crisis, is a child rights-based, integrated program aiming to address the consequences of the Syrian crisis for adolescents inside Syria and in Lebanon. Together with local civil society actors in the areas of implementation, Save the Children intends to contribute to strengthen adolescents’ resilience, strengthen local structures, an increased knowledge and respect for children’s and human rights as well as gender and conflict sensitivity. Depending on each context within the program and with an awareness of the constantly changing circumstances, the program will include child protection, child rights governance, skills development, adolescents’ voice and participation, education, vocational training, peace building and life skills as well as advocacy. The proposed program will be implemented in north-east Syria and in Lebanon through until December 2020.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Essential
* At least five years’ senior level programme management experience in an NGO, donor, government or consultancy environment
* Prior experience of designing and/or delivering large-scale integrated programmes – requiring complex coordination across countries and field offices – in fragile and conflict-affected countries
* Strong experience in management of finance and budget monitoring, financial forecasting, and risk
* Management
* Demonstrable understanding of development and rights based programming principles.
* Proven experience in applying conflict sensitive and gender equality approaches
* Experience of working with major donors, particularly SIDA
* Experience in representing programme at a strategic level and engage with key stakeholders
* Resilient self-starter able to manage through relationships in complex situations
* Highly diplomatic with excellent political awareness and understanding
* Strong oral and written communication skills

Contract length: Till January 31st, 2021
