NRC Syria Response Office is looking for a Education Project Manager that will be responsible for the design, development and implementation of Core Competencies (CC) programmes/projects in a small and medium size Country Operation or a start- up/small CC in a large country.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development of the CC strategy, technical SOPs / guidelines and Macro LFAs
  • Compliance and adherence to NRC policies, CC tools, handbooks and guidelines
  • Contribute to the development and management of funding proposals, project budgets and donor reports
  • Overall management of education project staff
  • Collaborate with the Education Specialist to ensure high technical quality of project/s
  • Manage CC Education projects implementation (activities, budgets and projects’ documentation) in line with proposals, strategies and donor requirements
  • Provide regular progress reports to the Area Manager and the Education Specialist
  • Ensure capacity building of project staff and transfer key skills
  • Liaison and collaboration with relevant local and national authorities and stakeholders and represent NRC in relevant forums/cluster/working groups
  • Promote the rights of IDPs/returnees in line with the advocacy strategy and ensure that projects target beneficiaries most in need of protection while exploring and assessing new and better ways to assist
  • Coordinate with Area Office management to ensure the provision of Children and Youth Programming, Adult Education and Basic Education activities
  • Work with partner staff to build capacity both internally in NRC and in the partner agency
  • Design and develop program approaches and activities that can be piloted and expanded to other project areas
  • Build capacity of education teams to operationalize quality, timely and comprehensive education programming
  • Support the development of NRC and Education Sector Response Strategies

Our ideal candidate

  • A committed individual with experience from working in a senior level project implementation position in humanitarian/recovery contexts and within clusters.
  • Experience from working in complex/volatile contexts, liaising with authorities
  • Strong management experience, including remote management
  • Experience with managing youth programs and INEE
  • Fluency in English, both written and verbal. Fluency in Arabic language an asset.
  • Technical CC Education expertise, children, youth, adult and basic education activities preferred
  • Knowledge of the Syria context

Additional information

  • Contract period: 12 months
  • Salary/benefits: According to NRC’s salary scale and terms and conditions
  • Duty station: Amman, willing to travel approximately 10 %
