Senior Manager – Financial Planning & Analysis

JOB OVERVIEW/SUMMARY:

The Financial Planning & Analysis will be responsible for assisting in the development of annual work plans and pipeline budgets, reviewing budgets and financial reports for accuracy, performing monthly and quarterly analysis reports, trends, monitoring performance and other ad hoc financial requests as needed. Using strong interpersonal and communication skills and additional analytical skills, the incumbent will develop and maintain positive relationships with other departments with a strong focus on Grants and Proposal development colleagues.

SCOPE OF ROLE:

Reports to: Controller

Staff directly reporting to this post: 2-3

Inter-departmental: works closely with Grants unit and Budget holders

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

Financial Analysis and Reporting

  • Provide analytics and financial support on internal operations and strategic opportunities
  • Oversee the development and production of key performance indicators
  • Monitor performance indicators, highlighting trends and analysing causes of unexpected variances
  • Create and analyze monthly, quarterly and annual reports for distribution to relevant stakeholders
  • Analyze Shared Program Costs (SPC) allocation and accuracy.
  • Create financial analysis to provide insight and timely actionable information
  • Produce ad hoc financial analysis for IRC Leadership and stakeholders.
  • Act as a trusted business partner for senior stakeholders providing guidance and advice and dealing with all finance-related queries.

Financial Planning

  • Assist the Controller in managing the annual budgeting process by ensuring that IRC operating budget is prepared accurately, updated timely and reflects IRC Jordan annual work plans
  • Providing in-depth analysis to IRC annual budget to identify any funding gaps and provide recommendations to the Controller to address any potential risks.
  • Support budget holders with the preparation of spending plans and forecasts including variance analysis.
  • Participates in monthly Grant Review Meetings (GRMs) and presents spending status. Follows-up on action points identified during the meetings.
  • Attends and provides support to all Grant Opening, Grant Review and Grant Closing Meetings.
  • preparation and review of budget realignments, narrations, and justifications
  • Prepares donor financial reports for review by the Finance Controller. Ensures reports are in compliance with donor reporting formats and submitted in a timely manner as per contractual requirements.
  • Provides advice on key donor compliance requirements in consultation with the Grants Unit.

Team Management and Development

  • Coaches, trains, and mentors staff with the aim of strengthening their technical capacity, exchanging knowledge within the team and providing professional development guidance
  • Supervises and mentors direct reports including communicating clear expectations, setting performance objectives, providing regular and timely performance feedback, and leading documented semi-annual performance reviews.
  • Provides constructive feedback and counsel on appropriate career paths and professional development.
  • Promotes and monitors staff care and well-being.
  • Approves and manages all leave requests to ensure adequate staffing coverage.
  • Offers leadership support for successful adherence by staff to IRC’s Global HR Operating Policies and Procedures.

KEY WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:

Position reports to: Finance Controller – Jordan

Position directly supervises: 2-3 FP&A Officers

Other Internal: Finance Controller, Grants Unit, Partnerships Unit, Deputy Director Field Operations (DDFO) as well other Finance, Program and support staff.

External to the Country Office: Regional Finance Controller, Field Coordinators, Regional Program Staff, Regional Finance Director, Regional Finance Manager and Regional Grants and Compliance Manager.

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Commerce or Finance, or equivalent technical training certificate in Accounting. Minimum of 7 years of experience in INGO.
  • Preferably Qualified CPA, CMA ACA, CIMA, or Master’s Degree.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

· Proven experience in budgeting and forecasting

· Ability to liaise with a wide range of staff at different levels and across departmental and to act with credibility, tact and diplomacy

· Excellent stakeholder management and strategic influencing skills

· Ability to be proactive and logical in problem-solving scenarios

· Knowledge of key institutional and private donor’s rules and regulations and reporting requirements

· Thorough – high attention to detail and takes pride in delivering accurate, high quality work

· A thorough understanding of financial systems and procedures

· Excellent IT literacy including expertise in spread sheet modelling and analysis

· Strong time management skills with an ability to plan ahead, anticipate requirements, and obstacles, and an ability to juggle competing priorities successfully, and to work to tight deadlines

· Conscientious and client focussed

·Maintains a calm disposition and positive outlook particularly when working under pressure

· A full appreciation of the value of co-operation, both internationally and within a team environment

· Verbal and written fluency in English
