Background:

Johanniter started their activities in Jordan, Lebanon and Syria in 2012, providing emergency aid to Syrian refugees and the affected local population. All support measures are implemented through local partner organisations. According to the Johanniter core competencies, these measures focus on public health, the provision of emergency aid and services in the fields of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, but also include education and livelihood. Further activities have comprised the distribution of aid goods and cash assistance, as well as the rehabilitation of shelters, and services in the fields of water, sanitation and hygiene. Currently, the Johanniter are operating a Country Office in Amman, which monitors projects in Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, the Palestinian Territories, West Bank and Iraq.

You will be reporting to the Head of Mission Middle East (first line supervisor) and to the Head of South/Central Asia, Middle East and Europe Desk, Berlin (second line supervisor)

You will be supervising a team of international/national staff and project partners and give technical advice to National Partners.

What you will do:

■ You will be responsible for the Johanniter programme in the Middle East.

■ Your main function will be to supervise our project partners in implementing our programme in Amman and the field.

■ In addition, you will be assess and evaluate the activities and write donor proposals.

■ Part of your responsibility will be to support the Head of Mission in fundraising.

■ A good understanding of the overall regional programme will stand you in good stead.

What you bring:

■ More than 5 years of experience in a humanitarian context, preferably in an international NGO

■ Experience in capacity building, working with international and national partners, donors, health and other authorities

■ Monitoring and evaluation experience of projects in line with donor regulations, conducting assessments as well as writing proposals and reports

■ Experience in security management in high risk areas under stressful circumstances and in an insecure context

■ Previous working experience in the Middle East an asset

■ Strong management, project planning and organizational skills

■ Strong analytical, written/oral communication and reporting skills

■ Negotiation and diplomatic skills

■ Cross-cultural sensitivity and ability to work in an international team

■ Fully computer literate

■ Fluency in English required, German and/or Arabic asset

■ Good sense of humor

What we offer:

■ Fixed term contract for one year (with possible extension)

■ Remuneration: between 46,780 and 49,250 € annual gross salary (according to Johanniter AVR DWBO Annex Johanniter internal tariff and depending on relevant previous working experience).
