Development Worker (m/f/d) for Women’s Economic Empowerment

Field of activity

The “Employment-oriented MSME promotion” project aims to strengthen the prospects for Jordanian micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) in accordance with “Jordan 2025 – A National Vision and Strategy” and the “Jordan Economic Growth Plan 2018-2022”. By working with local partner organizations, the project also helps to develop sustainable mechanisms that improve access to financial and non-financial services for enterprises in Jordan as well as public-private dialogue platforms. Among other sectors, the MSME project focusses on the Jordanian Information and Communications Technologies (ICT) sector as the sector holds not only great potential for economic development but also for increased participation of women. The MSME project therefore looks for a development advisor who will assist int@j, the ICT business association of Jordan, in strengthening their efforts on women’s economic empowerment.

Your tasks

• Support and advise the preparation and design of an action plan for women economic empowerment (WEE) in Jordan’s ICT sector with key stakeholders
• Capacitate int@j at individual and organizational level to promote women economic empowerment in the ICT sector including by Int@j leading and steering the ICT sector WEE action plan based on effective cooperation management and a strong partner network
• Strengthen int@j in planning and implementing measures for women empowerment in the sector
• Facilitate synergies and cooperation among int@j and other stakeholders to align efforts for women empowerment and gender equality in the ICT sector
• Support int@j and other relevant stakeholders to develop and improve services offerings to promote women-owned ICT businesses and gender diversity management approaches in ICT companies more broadly
• Identify and support the preparation of proposals for funding opportunities, especially for the design and implementation of the WEE action plan and for establishing a WEE unit at int@j
• Improve the collection and use of data for gender-sensitive and transformative information-based decision-making and intervention planning

Your profile

• University degree related to business management, private sector development or gender studies
• Proven knowledge of promoting gender equality and women empowerment in the field of economic development
• Work experience within an industry association is a plus
• Experience in organizational development, process improvement, networking and managing multi-stakeholder partnerships is an advantage
• Strong analytical and coordination competences, broad intercultural competence, excellent communication- and networking skills
• Authenticity, adaptability, resilience as well as performance and goal orientation
• Previous work or study experience in the Middle East and North Africa region is an asset
• Fluent English skills; German or Arabic skills are an advantage
