CARE International established a presence in Jordan in 1948, created in the wake of the Palestinian refugee crisis. Over 70 years later, CARE has served the needs of the Palestinian, Iraqi, Somali, Sudanese, and now Syrian refugee communities.

CARE’s scope of work has evolved from emergency response to long-term development programming, now encompassing an Urban Refugee Protection Program, the Azraq Camp Program, and the Sustainable Development Program. In late 2016, CARE created its Strategy- Business Plan 2017-2020, defining CARE’s program goals to fight poverty and inequality by 2020

**JOB SUMMARY***:*

The purpose of the Protection Psychologist position is to effectively implement the assigned psychosocial projects component activities. He/she oversees the proper implementation of the assigned component of the program, in collaboration with other team members of the project. He/she is also responsible for assisting the project manager in project designing, planning, budget preparation, reporting and so on. He/she also establish and maintain good relations with partners such, beneficiary communities, community leaders, Community and other Organizations and ensure their mobilization to participate in CARE projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:

Job Responsibility #1 Planning, monitoring and reporting:

· Support in the costed annual work plan for the project component for which he or she is responsible with support from the Program manager; reviews and revises this plan each month with the Program manager;

· implement of the Psychosocial activities according to the work plan in line with donor and CARE requirements including proposing any necessary changes;

· Reports to the project manager on progress including contributing to donor reports.

· Ensures compliance with all donor requirements and regulations

· Together with the Program Manager, properly documents the achievements and lessons of the project activities and disseminates to partners.

· Regularly uploads beneficiaries served through psychosocial activities on CARE’s Central Database System (CDS) on a weekly basis, in line with internal standard operating procedures.

· Works as a team player providing relevant information assistance to colleagues and ensuring project components for which she or he is responsible are interlinked.

· Maintains all relevant project documents in electronic and paper files (reports, contracts, agreements, correspondence, meeting notes, training materials and so on)

· Implement Psychosocial activities aims to mitigate the impact of COVID-19 crisis such as coping mechanisms to adopt the new behavioral resulted from the strict measures taken during this crisis. In addition to provide psychological assistance with the aim to improve the social and psychological functioning of children and their families, maximizing overall community well-being.

· Conduct Support and individual sessions for children with concern and their families

· Develop/ review community media campaign material related to social and psychological topics within the COVID_19 contexts. To be used and published by all means of media channels.

Job Responsibility # 2 Implementation of project activities

· Plans with project partners, beneficiaries and other relevant actors, the detailed project activities for which she or he is responsible;

· Creating awareness of the project among beneficiaries and partners and facilitates participation in all stages of the project cycle from problem identifying through implementation and management;

· Develops the necessary project documentation to implement project activities including developing terms of reference for outside experts and assignments (trainers, facilitators, evaluators, success stories and experts);

· Organizes as necessary project activities, events, workshops, training sessions, information materials, and presentations and so on. This includes logistical arrangements, organizing payments and collecting, filing relevant support documentation, and report writing;

· Document all activities in a timely manner for narrative reports, statistical reports, name lists and photos.

· Implements all aspects of sub grant management in line with CARE procedures if the project requires. This includes; selection of grantees and writing up the necessary reports recording the selection process; facilitating a sub grant agreement with the procurement department of CARE; monitoring and reporting on the performance of the sub grant.

· Identifies skills gaps and provides training to project partners as required (e.g. project management, reporting, community mobilization and participation, gender mainstreaming, and so on)

Job Responsibility # 3 Ensuring community participation, promoting women’s empowerment and youth applying CARE standards:

· Makes sure that project activities are performed in line with CARE standards including key humanitarian standards as set out in the SPHERE and IASC guidelines.

· Ensures that gender considerations are taken into account at all stages of the project cycle from design through implementation to evaluation;

Ensures the participation of the community and partners in all stages of the project cycle

20% of Time

Job Responsibility # 4 Coordination, liaison and outreach with project partners and other interested organization:

  • Maintains contacts and effective communication with key partners involved in the project (project partners, other NGOs and agencies, Government departments) including drafting correspondence and documentation for signature by the project manager and transmission to partners or donors.
  • Ensures that summaries of meetings, seminars or workshops attended is written, well documented and shared with others;

· Report on all meetings and develop ways to involve lessons leant or disseminate information to CBO partners.

· Participates and if necessary organizes coordination between different donors, agencies and organizations to enhance the impact of CARE’s work through good coordination.

· Support other safe spaces in other governorate when needed.

10% of Time

Responsibility #5: Emergency Response / Staff Security

· Take a lead role in facilitating timely, quality administrative support function delivery in the time of emergency response

· Guides and supports management on staff security concerns.

· Ensure security operational guidelines well established for the CO and field offices following CARE USA Security Guidelines, and all staff are aware (in coordination with the CD).

· Promote a safe and secure work environment; foster a safety and security culture; and ensure consistent application of, and compliance with, CARE Jordan safety and security policies and procedures

5% of Time

Job Responsibility #5 Other duties and Responsibilities assigned by the supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS

A. Education / Training

Required:

· BA/BSc Degree in Psychology or Counseling, and equivalent combination of education and work experience

Desired:

· MA degree in Psychology, Sociology, and Counseling.

B. Managerial Know How

Involves integrating and harmonizing requirements of diverse functions in operating, support, and administrative situations. It may be exercised through consultation as well as direct action; Management requires a combination of planning, organizing, controlling, and reviewing along with direct and indirect execution. Choose one of the following: Task; Minimal; Related; Diverse; Broad.

This position requires (Minimal) managerial know-how.

C. Experience Required:

Required:

· Minimum 3 years in psychosocial and humanitarian field and coordination related experience preferably from UN/INGOs sector

Desired:

-Licensed Psychologist

· Actual grassroots experience, working with communities and CSOs.

D. Skills Required

· Basic project management skills

· Excellent communication skills in dealing effectively with interlocutors

· Technical knowledge in psychosocial issues.

· Good spoken and written English

· Firm belief in teamwork, gender equality and participatory approach and sustainable development.

· Ability to deal with all means of media channels (TV, Radios, Social media and others)

Desired:

· Training and facilitation skills.
