Plan International aims to reach as many children as possible, particularly those who are excluded or marginalized, with high quality programs that deliver long lasting benefits by working in partnership with others and operating effectively. Plan International has been working in Jordan since 2016, collaborating with national and international partners to support the recovery and resilience of the Jordanian host population and Syrian refugees by providing Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD), child protection, and women’s empowerment services.
Plan International is seeking a Curriculum & Training Specialist, an integral member of Plan International Jordan and the upcoming project “Providing access to quality ECCD services for Syrian refugee children and girls & boys from host communities in Jordan”. The Specialist will work closely with the Ministry of Education (MoE), community-based organizations, and information, communication and technology (ICT) partners in improving access and quality of kindergarten programs as well as in introducing the use of ICT in the delivery of kindergarten services for both Syrian refugee children and those from host communities.
Under the guidance of the Project Manager, the Curriculum & Training Specialist will be responsible for coordinating and managing all curriculum development and training programs covered under the project and will provide technical support to the MoE, project coordination structures and other partners in the community mapping of kindergarten needs, as well as the establishment of relevant KG learning spaces as identified by the mapping study. Likewise, the Specialist will provide technical support to the MoE ECD Directorate in the roll-out of the comprehensive teacher training program, as well as the development and piloting of digital enrichment materials for KG teachers, students and parents. She/he will be critical in ensuring training content developed take into account gender-responsive, age and developmentally appropriate teaching and learning approaches.
Specifically, the Specialist is expected to:
Support the Ministry of Education (MoE) in rolling-out and monitoring the comprehensive teacher training program and in-service training
Support the MoE to develop enrichment materials for MoE KG curriculum on gender-sensitive teacher and learning approaches
Support the Ministry of Education, ICT partners and other key stakeholders in the following:
a. Development of gender-sensitive KG digital enrichment teaching-learning materials.
b. Train and supervise teachers on the use of said materials
Ensure that emphasis is placed on the holistic development of the learners that encompasses both their cognitive and socio-emotional development
Support the documentation of the processes, good practices and lessons learned arising from this project to inform project strategies and policy advocacy and development.
Do you have what it takes?
In order to succeed in this challenging and varied role you will require proven professional experience gained within education in a humanitarian context is essential
Advanced university degree in Education, Psychology, Sociology, Curriculum Development, Social Sciences or relevant disciplines;
Demonstrated experience in supporting work on national curricula development, curricula reviews/assessments and teacher training
Experience:
Minimum 5-7 years of experience.
Experience in providing strategic advice and the development of public policies
Knowledge and experience working in the ECE/education sector in Jordan
Strong understanding of gender and ability to engage on gender equality issues
Knowledge, Skills, and Behaviours Required to Achieve Role’s Objectives:

Strong knowledge and experience in effective management practices in complex environments
Excellent understanding of education issues and relevant major players in Jordan
Good understanding of ECE and the primary education sector
Understanding of integrated humanitarian and development issues and community development
Knowledge and understanding of gender issues, especially pertaining to the education sector
Strong knowledge in planning, monitoring, evaluating programs and ongoing developments in evaluation tools and processes for education projects
Skills:
Ability to engage with a cross-section of stakeholders in the public and private sectors.
Outstanding communication skills, with excellent command of spoken and written English and Arabic
Proven facilitation skills and demonstrated experience in leading joint group efforts
