Internship

DESCRIPTION

Location: Amman, Jordan

Duration: 6 months

Compensation: Small stipend to cover the cost of basic living expenses

Magenta is pleased to announce that they have availability for a six-month internship (anticipated start date: 15th of January, 2019) based in Amman, Jordan, supporting Magenta’s work across various locations in West Africa, Asia, the Middle East and North Africa.

Magenta is a Research and Behavioural Change communications company, established by a multi-cultural team of development, research and behavioural change communications experts. We aim to make a positive impact to the way governments, institutional donors and development agencies achieve their policy and programme objectives. We combine the latest in behavioural science principles with a rigorous approach to strategy, campaign design and implementation. We help our partners to be more efficient, achieve scale and sustainability, and positive, long- lasting social change.

Primary responsibilities of Interns are to provide support for (1) organisational knowledge management, (2) program support, (3) marketing and (4) administration. They work under the guidance of the Country Director and/or Program Managers. We are looking for exceptional individuals, driven by a keen desire to deliver social impact. In return, we offer a strong mentoring and training program, and exceptional growth possibilities within an expanding team.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Knowledge Management

§ Conducting regular country analysis and stakeholder maps

§Updating Magenta databases – past performance records, contact lists,

partners’ testimonials

§ Monitoring of tenders and funding opportunities§ Writing up detailed meeting notes

§ Development of fact sheets and presentations

Program Support

§ Provide support to program management

§ Contribute to program reporting

§Prepare inputs for proposal development under the guidance of Program Manager or Country Director

Marketing

§ Prepare and post social media content for Magenta’s LinkedIn and Facebook page

§ Regularly update marketing materialsAdministration

§ Ad hoc tasks as assigned by supervisor such as but not limited to updating the server, filing, writing research reports, drafting memos, and/or making presentations.

REQUIREMENTS & COMPETENCIES

§ Pursuing a relevant university degree (top tier university preferred) or recently graduated;

§ Robust logic chain analytics and strong general analytical skills;

§Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, additional local

§ languages (Urdu, French, Arabic, Farsi) preferred;

§ Highly numerate, with strong commercial acumen;

§ Ability to multi-task and manage competing priorities;

§ Demonstrated desire for excellence and an ability to inspire others to attain professional excellence;

§ Proven ability to multitask and manage one’s time effectively to meet competing deadlines and priorities;

§ Excellent interpersonal skills, collaborate with others and successfully work as an effective team member;

§ Demonstrated passion and interest for the country of application;

§ Innovation driven

§ Technological fluency;

§ Willingness to live in developing/post-crisis settings;

§ Good sense of humour, personable and demonstrated ability to build networks;

§ Entrepreneurial spirit and willingness to get hands dirty;

§ Software familiarity: Microsoft 365, Excel, Word, PowerPoint. Familiarity with SPSS, Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop, an advantage.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Some long hours including evening and weekends to complete tasks or attend events
  • May involve working in regions that are remote and lack basic modern infrastructure
