About VHI

EMPOWERED PEOPLE TRANSFORM THE WORLD. This principle is the grounding belief of Vision Hope, a Germany-based NGO whose work focuses on the world’s most vulnerable people and builds sustainable communities in war-torn regions. VHI works together with local partners to empower them and create sustainable solutions for their communities.

Vision Hope’s work is focused in Yemen and Jordan. Recent and ongoing projects transform communities through developing food security, enhancing maternal and child health, promoting support for orphans, providing emergency cholera response, building kindergartens, teaching job skills through cash-for-work programs, and implementing water supply development.

Overview

Our Social Media and Communications Intern will support the existing social media team in Jordan and abroad in generating content, developing a social media strategy, and revitalizing the VHI website.

This is a part-time unpaid position, reporting to the Social Media and Communications Officer. The internship will run for 3 months, with the possibility of extension.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate closely with Social Media Officer on the development of a social media strategy
• Develop content promoting VHI programming in Jordan
• Generating posts for the international Vision Hope pages on Facebook and Instagram
• Writing posts about VHI in Jordan for our blog on Medium
• Support the maintenance of Facebook and Instagram channels
• Coordinate with the Media Officers in Karak and Mafraq to ensure the availability of content
• Occasional field visits to Karak and Mafraq to take photos and interview beneficiaries for social media and other communications
• Translate between Arabic and English (German is a plus)
• Support in the update of the Vision Hope website
• Other duties as assigned

Skills and Experience

• Strong experience in social media strategy and content creation
• Great writing and editing skills are a must
• Fluent English and Arabic; German is a plus
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office
• Experience with WordPress
• Ability to take initiative and work independently
• Strong communication skills and creativity
• Photography and video editing skills are an asset
