A Civil Society Organization seeks for its Media, Communication Department, a Communication and Media Officer whose role is to contribute to the creation and dissemination of information on its work with the aim of spreading knowledge, achievements and impact , The Communication and Media Officer you will be working collaboratively with the team to continue to develop and deliver relevant content and branding materials, and play a key role in the event management for a range of its activities. She/he will work under the direction and supervision of the Head of the Department.
Production of material, publications and content development (for external use)
Ø Drafting, researching, and editing content on selected topics, including for publications, press releases, websites, blogs;
Ø Coordinate, develop and maintain the organization’s online content including preparing newsletters, social media and administrating its website;
Ø Ensuring content and design adheres to agreed standards time frames and branding guidelines;
Ø Producing content/ multimedia content and coverage relevant to the organization’s work and current events for different media outlets and for different audiences;
Ø Creating and editing content for videos, infographics and other multimedia;
Ø Responsible for developing monthly and annual reports;
Ø Produce background research on selected topics where needed.**
Social Media Development
Ø Support in producing social media content for various audiences on specific themes; ensuring upcoming events are posted on social media;
Ø Managing social media platform;
Ø Monitoring developments on social media platforms relevant to the organization fields of work;
Ø Support in developing and implementing a digital communications strategy in close cooperation with the Head of Department.
Production of material, publications and content development (for internal use)
Ø Support in developing internal and external monthly newsletters (Arabic/English) on the organization’s activities and interventions;
Ø Support in reviewing, editing and developing the organization’s publications with the relevant teams ensuring that all publications shed the light on the background and context of the issue and the reasoning and relevance to the organization’s role.
Ø Help set the priorities of all the departments tasks and ensure that all is executed within the assigned deadlines as per the head department instructions.
Ø Assisting in managing the organization’s events, including conferences, in close coordination and liaison with relevant staff;
Ø Prepare Media kits, flyers any other relevant event tools;
Ø Ensure that the branding and audiovisuals are in place for all events and ensuring the branding and visibility of the organization’s events are optimal.
Database and Archives
Ø Maintaining and updating existing database of media, press, TV, radio and other media outlets nationally and internationally;
Ø Building and maintaining a list of contact lists for newsletters, invitations etc comprising from all relevant stakeholders such as Media contact, Partners, Donors etc;
Ø Create an archive of all the organization’s publication and communications materials in addition to relevant publication, branding guidelines and branding tools.
Ø Monitoring media in relation to topics relevant to the organization’s work;
Ø Preparing monthly and quarterly internal reports covering website and social media usage;
Ø Preparing Media Monitoring Reports on each theme/event or release.
Any other administrative tasks the head of department may assign
Ø Bachelor’s Degree in journalism, development studies, political science or other related fields;
Ø Minimum of 5 years’ experience relevant to this position;
Ø Experience in digital communication, social media management, and multimedia content production;
Ø Experience with E-newsletter production, still and video photography and editing software content creation;
Ø Familiarity with the media landscape;
Ø Knowledge or experience in the organization’s fields of work is an asset.
Knowledge and Skills
Ø Excellent writing skills and oral communication skills (both English and Arabic);
Ø Demonstrated ability to synthesize complex issues using user friendly language;
Ø Solid understanding of the social, economic and political development and challenges in Jordan and the Arab region;
Ø Prefect knowledge of publishing programs and IT skills;
Ø Cultural sensitivity.
